That Rev Chap, a year on

A year ago today, one of the few people I know online who I could call a proper actual friend, died suddenly. I won’t go into it all, as I’ve written everything before, but I wanted to mark it in some way. I’m still sad he’s gone. Something about the online fora I frequent, and Twitter, has changed a little. They’re not the same. Sure, he was just one of many in those places, but he’s one who made an …

Stuff wot I are bin playing

I’ve not posted in a while, aside from to mention Yakuza 3 and Old World Blues, but I have still been playing games. Here’s a round-up of what’s been going down over the last few weeks: Professor Layton and the Lost Future (DS) I actually completed this at the start of the year, but as I did with the previous two games once the story was done I left the remaining puzzles until near the release of the following game. …

Spider-Man: Remastered (PS5): COMPLETED!

The most important thing in any Spider-Man game is the web swinging. What’s the point of being Spider-Man without it? Sure, he could swing in some of the 2D 8 and 16-bit platformers, but when the Gamecube-era Spider-Man 2 game came out the freedom of 3D traversal round New York was a massive wow. The rest of that game… not so much. Well, much time has passed since then and this, the PS5-improved version of the PS4 exclusive, is very …

Batman: Arkham Knight (PS4): COMPLETED!

Just a few hours into Batman: Arkham Knight, you’re tasked with taking the Batmobile up onto a roof and effectively making it jump from roof to roof to reach an electrical panel or something. It’s utterly ridiculous, and is not what you’d expect the Batmobile, what with it being a car and everything, is for. This did not bode well for the rest of the game. Thankfully for all concerned, that was it. Sure, there were a few car-based acrobatics …

Pound-a-Mile Update

So, it’s time for an update, I think. How do you think things have gone? Well, a lot of things have happened. Most importantly, I bought a new bike. Oh yes. Even though my Apollo Highway hybrid was still under a year old, I was fed up with the shocking build quality and after a snapped chain, snapped axle, bent wheel, twisted cogs, and it never, ever, changing gears smoothly enough regardless of how much they were adjusted, cleaned, and …

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite

Just about the only game series in Japan to come close to the popularity of Pokemon is Monster Hunter. And a new installment is heading for the PSP. Look! Video! The blurb: Are you ready to be part of the social gaming phenomenon that‚Äö?Ñ?¥s gripping Japan? The Monster Hunter world is always changing and you will need to be ready for anything – but killing and trapping monsters will always be most important part of your duty. Monster Hunter Freedom …

Daisy is one month old!

Tomorrow, my gorgeous baby daughter is one month old. You might be wondering why I’ve not posted much about her here, well, since she was born, but that’s because she has her own (private) website for friends and family. I’m not keen on posting lots of pictures and information about her in a public space like this for obvious reasons – not least because she already appears to have attracted an unwanted stalker. Anyway. It’s amazing how the month has …
